HISTORICAL
SIGNIFICANCE The
S- XVI was a two-seat biplane designed in 1914 by Igor Sikorsky, intended as escort
fighter for the Russian Ilya Mourometz bombers. Powered by the Gnome 80 Hp rotary,
performance was 75mph (120 kph) with a ceiling of 11500 ft( 3500 m). |
